Working offline
Does the rep app work offline?
Yes. The app is built so a rep can finish the day even where coverage is weak. Every action is saved on the phone first, then uploaded when the connection returns.
What needs the internet?
- First sign-in: needs a connection to download working data such as products, units, price lists, route customers and van stock.
- Starting the journey: needs a connection, and the phone's location turned on.
- Receiving office changes: any dashboard change reaches the phone at the next sync.
- Showing activity on the dashboard: invoices, collections and visits appear for the office once uploaded.
What works offline?
Once the journey is open: visits, sales, returns, collections, stock movements, goods requests, new customers and closing the journey are all recorded on the phone and wait to be uploaded. Offline, a return from an invoice can only use invoices stored on that phone.
What about the invoice number?
Until upload, an invoice carries a temporary number from the phone. The official number, INV-…, or RET-… for a return, is issued by the server after upload, together with the final total, and replaces the temporary one.
Can something recorded offline be refused?
Yes, if it breaks a rule the server checks on upload, such as not enough van stock, an exceeded credit limit or a missing price. See "Sync issues".
Will a document be duplicated if uploaded again?
No. Each document has a fixed identifier, so retrying never records it twice.
Tips for reps
- Open the app while online before heading out in the morning, so the latest updates arrive.
- Let the app upload whenever it finds coverage.
- Do not uninstall the app while the phone holds unsent documents.
- At the end of the day, let everything upload before closing the journey; the journey summary shows how many documents the server has not accepted yet.
